Established in 1986 when the Hospital opened, our aim is to provide equipment and services for the Patients and Staff of The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, Worcestershire.

We raise funds in a variety of ways – main sources of income are from our busy and friendly coffee shop, situated at the heart of the hospital and from generous donations from the public. These can be from grateful patients; schools, clubs and pubs who fundraise on our behalf; legacies; and ‘In Memoriam’ donations. We also run a Summer Fete, Christmas Fair and seasonal raffles.

During 2010 we will be opening our new reception facility and shop. This will replace our flower shop, which was closed in 2009 to make way for a McMillan support centre

Around 300 Volunteers from aged 18 to 80+ willingly provide their time to help us achieve our aims. Voluntary activities include helping in the shop, flower arranging, broadcasting, ward trolley round, gardening, and assisting patients to Communion Service. We also work in conjunction with Age Concern to provide ‘Dignity Champions’ on wards.

In addition, 500 non-active members receive a quarterly newsletter to keep them up to date with our activities.
