The League of Friends raises funds through donations and activities such as the Summer fete as well as running day-to-day services such as the Coffee Shop, Ward Assistance and Trolley Rounds.
The funds raised are used to provide equipment and services to support the day-to-day running of the hospital and the convenience and comfort of the patients.
In 2009 over £149,000 was used in this way, some of the items included
£21,224 on Ventilation Support Systems
£57,200 on Endoscopic Equipment
£6,578 on a Trauma Trolley
£13,052 on Electrical Chairs for Stroke Patients
£5,951 on LCD TV’s
And a further £45,000 on miscellaneous small grants including bereavement support for both young and old.
Already in 2010 we have provided funds in excess of £36,00 for Non-contact Biometers, Hoists for Stroke Patients, Nebulisers and ENT Cameras. This does not include the £200,000 donated to partially fund the re-development of the Main Entrance which will eventually include a new Reception area and LoF Shop.
As you can see, the League of Friends makes a significant contribution to the running of the hospital and the care and support of the patients. This support is mainly down to the League of Friends Volunteers and Friends.
If you are already a Volunteer and Friend a big thank you, if you are not, how about joining us and becoming one?
